Machining one good part is one thing. Machining hundreds of them — every single one to the same tight specification — is a different challenge entirely. This precision aluminum flange housing was produced at CNC Rapid as a high-volume run, with a clean as-machined finish and the kind of part-to-part consistency that production customers depend on.

A Deceptively Complex Part
At a glance it’s a compact square housing — but it packs several features that each have to be right, and right consistently across the batch:
- Large internally threaded bore at the center, where thread quality and consistency directly affect how the mating part seats.
- Curved lightening pockets at each corner, reducing weight while keeping the structure rigid and clean.
- Stepped, concentric back pockets for locating and weight reduction, machined to consistent depths.
- A raised side boss with threaded holes, adding another machining orientation to the part.
- Multiple threaded and precision holes across several faces, each holding position and depth from part to part.
Every one of these features has to land in the same place, at the same size, on part number 1 and part number 500 alike. That’s where disciplined process control earns its keep.

These housings are presented in their natural as-machined state — no anodizing or plating — so the surface quality comes straight from the cutter. Consistent finishes, crisp edges, and clean threads across every part in the run reflect sharp tooling and well-tuned machining, not post-processing cover-up.
