Some parts test a machine shop on a single feature. This one tests everything at once. Machined here at CNC Rapid from a solid block of 7075 aluminum, this integrated housing combines an internal ring gear, multiple concentric bearing bores, a flanged mounting port, thin-wall support arms, and dozens of threaded holes — all in one monolithic part, delivered in a clean as-machined finish.

Why This Part Is Demanding

- Flanged bore and bolt pattern — the lower mounting port and its surrounding holes need tight positional accuracy to mate with the assembly.
- Thin-wall arms and lightening pockets — the extended support arms have to stay flat and dimensionally stable despite their slender cross-section.
- Dozens of threaded and precision holes — spread across several faces and orientations, each holding to position and depth.
Getting all of these features to agree with one another — across multiple faces and setups — is what makes this a genuine test of workholding, fixturing, and multi-axis machining.

Why 7075 Aluminum?
7075 is one of the highest-strength aluminum alloys available, offering a strength-to-weight ratio that rivals many steels at a fraction of the weight. For a structural housing that carries bearings and transmits load, that means real rigidity and durability without unnecessary mass.
It also machines cleanly, holding sharp edges and fine detail — which is exactly what an internal gear and tight-tolerance bores demand.
Machined to Spec, As-Machined Finish
This part is presented in its natural as-machined state — no anodizing or plating — so the quality of the surfaces and cutter work speaks for itself. Clean tool paths, crisp edges, and consistent finishes across faces are the result of sharp tooling, tuned feeds and speeds, and careful setup.
